Landscape Installation
Corner Landscape Bed in Cedar Falls, IA
Cedar Falls, Iowa
Bare grass at the house corner became a bed with arborvitae, boulders, and river rock.
The problem
The house corner was bare grass. No screening, no definition, and a blank corner that made the foundation look unfinished. The owner wanted evergreens, boulder accents, and rock mulch for a lower-maintenance corner.
The property
Cedar Falls home with an exposed corner, mixed sun, and a need for screening without a high-maintenance perennial bed against the siding.
Work performed
We built a corner bed with arborvitae for screening, set boulders as anchors, and finished with river rock and fabric so the corner stays defined without constant mulch top-ups.
Materials
- Arborvitae
- Boulders
- River rock
- Landscape fabric
Corner bed build with screening evergreens, boulder accents, and rock mulch for low maintenance.
Challenges
Corner beds next to the house have to respect mature width on the evergreens. Rock mulch needs a real edge or it migrates. We kept plants off the siding and used boulders that sit in the bed, not on top of the grade.
Finished result
The corner is screened with arborvitae, boulders, and river rock. It looks finished and stays that way with less mulch work. This is the low-maintenance corner planting we install in Cedar Falls when grass against the house is not enough.
